I started as the Information and Advocacy Manager with SNIP in July. I’m responsible for supporting the Information and Advocacy Workers as well as
developing the advocacy side of the work of SNIP.
My background is mostly in advocacy and I started as a volunteer advocate with Advocacy Service Aberdeen (ASA) when I was a student.
I then moved on to become a volunteer Co-ordinator with ASA then Manager of the Patients’ Advocacy Service at the State Hospital, Carstairs.
I have also gained my certificate in counselling skills and trained as a volunteer counsellor while I was in Aberdeen.
When I’m not working I enjoy scuba diving in Scotland (or abroad, given half a chance!). I also enjoy the cinema and recently ran my first 5k race, so
I’m going to see if I can keep up this exercise kick.
I’ve been very fortunate to have met and worked with a very wide range of people facing a huge diversity of issues. I’m looking forward to learning
from the experiences of the staff here, as well as from those parents and young people whom SNIP support.
