Sue

Hello

My name is Sue and am  very pleased to have the chance join the SNIP team as an Information and Advocacy Worker in Fife.

I qualified as a social worker in 1982 and have spent a lot of my working life in the voluntary sector. Prior to joining SNIP I spent five years working with women and children who have experienced domestic abuse. I recently qualified as a practice teacher for social work and strongly believe that parent and carer-led organisations like SNIP have a huge role to play in the education and training of professional staff such as social workers.

I live in Fife and am the mother of two school-age boys, one of whom has additional support needs.  I feel this gives me some insight into the  issues faced by families affected by disability and that this will be valuable when offering support to other parents and carers accessing the SNIP service.

Outside work, I love all outdoor pursuits and use running as a stressbuster!  I am involved with my local community association and, as vice-chair of the School Board of my son’s primary school, in making the transition to the new parent council structure.

I am really excited about the development of the SNIP in Fife and look forward to working with Margaret and Linda to deliver an outreach service to families in Fife, by offering information, advocacy and emotional support.
