Support Groups

Many of the more familiar forms of disability such as Down’s Syndrome or Cerebral Palsy are represented by large organisations whose role it is to raise public awareness and provide information (see links page for details).

There are also many smaller organisations which help people with less well-known disabilities like Cri du Chat syndrome or Neurofibromatosis.  All of these organisations offer a point of contact for families and some form of support, ranging from counselling, links with other parents and information.

Like many families, you may want the experience of meeting other families who have children with similar special needs – SNIP can provide details of what is available locally.
